Data mining allows analysts to apply a variety of powerful machine-learning tools to the task of searching for relationships in small or large data sets, often finding non-linear or complex relationships that are not found by traditional methods.

This seminar will demonstrate a number of optional tools within STATISTICA that allow analysts to apply these methods as a part of their daily routine. If you analyse real-world data and don't know about using methods such as CHAID and Neural Networks, then you need to come and see them demonstrated.

What is Data Miner?

STATISTICA Data Miner (SDM) is a collection of machine learning tools available within the STATISTICA data analysis and statistics environment. Because of the integration into a conventional statistics environment you can choose at any stage whether to use, say logistic regression or CHAID, and compare the results. You also have the superb data graphing ability of STATISTICA.

You can use all the data mining techniques as customisable menu-driven, stand-alone analyses, or you can use a four-pane data miner "workspace" which contains a symbolic representation of the flow of input data through data filtering or cleaning and analytic nodes, to the results.

Although the full power of STATISTICA DM comes from owning the entire suite of products, we recognise that many people get all the power they need from using only one or a few of the algorithms, so the purchasing options allow for this.

  Why use STATISTICA?

STATISTICA's suite of advanced predictive modeling and knowledge discovery algorithms offer the most comprehensive selection of techniques in one software package. Each of the products in this suite offers an easy-to-use, icon-based user interface, but at the same time, STATISTICA is highly customisable and can be tailored to meet vstatistica image 2ery specific and demanding analysis requirements through its open architecture and VBA-based programming language.

STATISTICA supports all industry-standard data file formats as well as ODBC, OLE DB, and SQL –  there is no proprietary database/data warehouse format or programming environment/language to learn. All functionality is exposed via COM (and SOAP in the Client-Server version) and third-party procedures are easily incorporated.

About STATISTICA

STATISTICA is a statistics-based product for exploring and summarising data. You can create graphs and do graphical data exploration, as well as creating statistical summaries of large or small amounts of data. It offers a comprehensive set of essential statistical tests in a user-friendly package, and all the performance, power and ease of use of the modern StatSoft technology.

Example applications:

  • Quickly summarising data and producing reports
  • Finding relationships within your data
  • Finding the important exceptions
  • Add statistical functionality to your existing VBA applications
  • Graphical representation of business data
  • Preparation of complex scientific graphs
  • Working with unlimited sized databases

By being written with modern programming techniques, STATISTICA has managed to incorporate ease of use with powerful and flexible data graphing and statistical analysis.
