Budgets - ‘Use it or Lose it’

The old saying ‘use it or lose it’ holds true for many department budgets in both academia and industry. Why not see if your department or staff members need software to help them do their jobs better and invest any remaining budget you need to spend before the end of the year on technology. By investing the remainder of your budget in technology you get to maintain your budget level for next year and your staff receive valuable tools to make them more productive.

HRS staff would be happy to help identify tools for your staff that will help them do their jobs better so contact HRS today for free presales advice.

4 New Maple Application Briefs

Maplesoft Application Briefs are a growing collection of key applications that show how Maplesoft solutions are applied to critical technical projects and interesting real world problems. Read the overview for each application brief below and follow the link if you wish to read the full story.

Maplesoft Technology Speeds Up Concept Vehicle Prototyping Over 10,000 Times

The design and coding of the mathematical dynamics model of the Mercedes-Benz F300 Life Jet concept car suspension took a team of engineers thousands of hours to complete. However, using the latest tools from Maplesoft, Maple 11™ together with DynaFlexPro™, this work can be greatly reduced.

Maplesoft’s Global Optimization Toolbox Aids in Unexploded Ordnance Location and Discrimination

Using a solution that fuses knowledge from physics, genetic programming, Maple and the Global Optimization Toolbox allowed researchers to distinguish between buried ordnance and other less dangerous debris.

Maple Plays a Significant Role in Creating Humanoid Robots

The humanoid robot research lab at the Waseda University in Japan chose Maple as the main mathematical tool to derive the equations of motion. Thanks to the application of Maple, the research team has received the Robot Academy Award and the Best Paper Award at the International Conference of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

Model-based Design of an LQR Controller for a Single Inverted Rotary Pendulum

Maple and BlockBuilder for Simulink were used to quickly develop a high-fidelity model of the mechanism and the controller for the actuator to maintain the position of the inverted pendulum.
